The Olympic Swimmers box set contains a portfolio of 16 gloss color photos housed in a card box featuring Ryan McGinley’s photographs of swimmers from the Athens Olympics. The set includes images of Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin, Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen, Jenny Thompson, Diana Munz, and Ian Crocker among other swimmers of the 2004 US Olympic Swim Team. Each photograph is printed on an art card measuring approximately 4 x 5 inches. Originally commissioned by New York Times Magazine for publication in August 2004, the prints have the copyright date of August 2004 printed on the reverse, but these sets of boxed prints were not produced until 2006 as a limited edition of 500 copies.
