La casa que sangra, by Mexican documentary photographer Yael Martínez (Taxco, 1984), is a response of the photographer to the murder of one of his brothers-in-law and the disappearance of two others, all by the narco, to understand and overcome the trauma of this violence, using for it classic and also prepared documentary photography, responding to dreams and personal visions.

The book documents the psychological and emotional fractures generated by a loss in the family. It explores the social and cultural keys that operate when confronting death. Martínez’s images make the intimate space speak, where the personal is social and the testimony of one family becomes the testimony of many more, in transit towards the rupture of the Mexican collective fabric.
